I have a tape in a box somewhere in my workshop that has Patty Krouse from the downtown USO just starting her show when the bomb went off and you can hear it in the background . I think Mike had finished the news and Patty was starting around 12:15 when it happened. But who the hell am I to question Casey who is 10 times smarter than I and probably 10 times less senile! I do know I was in the TV studio starting to put the Tv weather together for Bobbi when the bomb went off and half the lighting grid came down on my head and shoulders.

I'm a little late with this because I have been busy with--guess what--the AFVNVETS.NET website. The same video is available on AFVNVETS.NET at https://www.afvnvets.net/audio-archives.html - "The Story of AFVN Radio and TV" by SP5 Scott Manning (and at approximately the same location into the audio).

Hello Group
My name is Harry Simons the old AFVN’er that’s helping WEBY in Pensacola, Florida put together the AFVN radio documentary to be aired at the end of the month.
We are searching for the audio clip that is somewhere on the internet of the explosion at the AFVN studio in Saigon in 1968. We have lost the web site and need help finding it please. Bob Casey writes about this event,
[The following is quoted from http://afrtsarchive.blogspot.hk/2014/08/bob-casey-afvn-1968-69.html ]
"I was on the board and Mike Turpin had just started the 1300 newscast. We were about a minute in when the bomb went off. I never shut the Mic off and on the tape, you can hear the explosion, the falling ceilings, fluorescent lights falling, and glass breaking. The Vietnam TV building was badly damaged. AFVN escaped with only a lot of blown in windows and lots of dropped ceilings and dirt. One AFVN civilian engineer whose office faced the Vietnam TV station received some shrapnel and that's all. Besides the audio tape, there is a photo of the hole the bomb left."
Any help the group could provide finding this audio clip for us to download would be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much
Harry Simons

Subject: Thanks for Your Help
Hello Group
I want to thank everyone for helping us locate the Scott Manning AFVN audio documentary done while in Vietnam. We did use the portion with the explosions at the Saigon studios in the WEBY radio 10 hour salute.
We are very close to final assembly and are looking forward to air date on the 26th of this month. If you are not in the WEBY signal area the program will be streamed at www.1330WEBY.com live as the documentary is broadcast.
Thanks again
Harry Simons
