TO ALCON, I believe I gave an erronious answer. For clarification on the Hue photos I have posted: The building, antenna and televison van photo were not dated - they are (apparently) a professional photographers effort in that they are 4 x 5 and were printed on lt wt semi-matte paper. The four photos showing the building (interior/exterior and truck were taken by a NAVSUPT Activity photographer on 12 Feb '68 and are so labeled on the back.
Sorry for any confusion I created.

I went up to Quang Tri several times in 1971, after the perimeter of the camp had been reduced in diameter as part of the pull back in troop levels in-country. This resulted in an AFVN antenna being left quite a distance outside the northern quadrant of the perimeter; and, I was wondering if it’s the antenna that’s next to the van in the picture. It must be, Sherlock. Thanks.

Mike,
The Hue (bottom) photo must have been taken not too long after TET 68--perhaps in February or March when AFVN was assessing the damage etc. I don't know the date for the Quang Tri (top) photo but it must have been taken shortly after the van was moved to Quang Tri and definately before October 1968 when the Quang Tri Det went on the air. A 1970 Quang Tri photo shows stairs on the side of the van which are not evident in this photo. It appears that this is a "new to the Website" photo so perhaps I should add it.

Yep, I remember. An exercise at Nellis was brutal one year. Never had to remind the folks in the vans to keep the doors closed once!

Air conditioning was mandatory for the equipment--not for the people.

Air conditioners! WOW! Kind of look like the old DSTE, TGC-26 and TGC-27 comm vans.

Something I had not seen before: Just though you might find this interesting. The Van…in Quang Tri and also in Hue…sure makes you think.
