Subject: Dodge City Building, MACV Annex Finally Demolished?
Your graphics included a large overlay in the upper right so I went to Google and found the same thing without the overlay. You are right in that it appears that the MACV Annex (Dodge City - E6 and above BEQ and EM Mess) has been demolished but perhaps the Richmond (E5 and below) BEQ and Mess just south or below the Annex still exists with perhaps some modifications. The swimming pool and the tennis courts also appear to be intact.
Evidently the planned destruction of the MACV/DAO Headquarters in 1975 didn't include the MACV Annex and some of the other buildings. The earliest Google Map I can find is September 2000 and it already shows that the area which was once the MACV/DAO Headquarters was already a maze of streets and a warren of small buildings. It also shows that perhaps the MACV Annex building had received, at least partially, a new roof.

Mike,
With no comment from you, I can only assume you sent the above to show I had the tennis courts in the wrong place. I don't think I'm completely wrong. See the below diagram taken from a MACV/DAO map dated 1970. It shows the tennis courts and swimming pool to the right of the MACV Annex. And they appear to still be there according to Google Maps. There may have also been tennis courts where you show them below, but they are not on the attached diagram. I do recall from reading about the evacuation from this area in 1975 there were some tennis courts close by and what you point out may well be them. Perhaps they are not on the 1970 diagram because they were for O-6s and above only and therefore Top Secret?

I think the Dodge City building at the MACV Annex may have been demolished. If you compare the two attached Google Earth screenshots, 2015 and 2016, I think you see the building disappear near the center of the 2016 photo. The former MACV Headquarters compound site is toward the upper left of the photos.
The Dodge City building was a rectangle with a distinctive open area in the center. It was located south of the MACV Annex Admin building, which may also be gone...Mike McNally
"Dodge City" BEQ and Open Mess at MACV
June 2016
The "Dodge City" E-6 and above BEQ and Open Mess is the "squared off 'B'" shaped building in the center of this 2015 photo.
But in this 2016 Google view the area appears to be a field surrounded by trees.

Jim,
I sent the 1975 aerial photo to help anyone who was trying to remember the appearance of the Dodge City building and its relationship to the MACV headquarters. Besides the MACV Annex tennis courts, there were courts placed in the headquarters compound between the ranking officer quarters and the theater. This became a helicopter pad during the evacuation. Here's a photo showing the view from the theater looking toward the officer quarters.
