How can one not join in the praise: Nice job Bob, and certainly kudos for Jim White's mastery of the website. I think there's room for a lot more candles on the cake.

Thank you for 17 years of service, Bob. Someone needs to design a special ribbon for you.
I didn't get online until they put computers in at work in late 1998. Luckily, not long after I stumbled upon Bob's group--this was before it was Yahoo.
Also, thanks for keeping the politics and rants to a minimum as moderator. I appreciate this very much.
With these Yahoo Group archives, Jim White's superb web site work---and Chu, Joe and Mason Green's very informative MACOI web site, AFVN is well represented.

Thanks to you, it's been a great ride, Bob! Have enjoyed linking up with a bunch of great folks. Joe and Chu have also kept our legacy alive with the MACOI website and I think we'd be remiss if we didn't tip our hat to Bruce Wahl and Paul Parker for their immense contributions as well. And, there aren't enough thanks in the world for the incredible job that Jim White has done. You have all made us proud. I salute you! Jim Allingham Saigon/Hon Tre Island

I was a member of that Group, Bob S [sic, M?] kicked Roger Carrol off for nebulous reasons and then he kicked me off because I said something nice about Roger. Here we have dragged him across the dessert with white stallions and also put him on a pillar. Love him or not, he has always been “Our Roger!”

Congratulations to the founders and maintainers. It is always good to know where we came from in order to direct us in the way we should go to maintain us.
How’s that for a multitude of words to describe a simple premise!!! LOL

Indeed it is, Bob. Thanks to you and Jim for all you do. And also thanks to Joe Green, and his MACOI website.
What you gentlemen do reminds me of what Bob Stoffel, with whom I served at both AFVN and AFNE and who passed on a couple years ago, did for AFN. The last time I saw Bob, who was 100 percent disabled when he left us [thanks to Agent Orange], was in 2001, at a reunion in San Diego. That gathering, set up by Bob and also retired Sgt. Major Mark Van Treuren, was held within two weeks of 9/11. Finding seats on planes from Florida to San Diego was quite easy.
At this juncture, and as best I can tell, AFNE is “rudderless” [no one has picked up from Bob], while AFVN is thankful to have you. There is, however, a close group of AFNE friends who served together in Germany in the late ‘60s who get together periodically. A reunion is being held in D.C. the end of March-early April. My wife and I will be there.
My OCS class, the guys I was commissioned with at Fort Benning on 3 June 1968, gets together regularly. The first OC-504-68 reunion was held at the Infantry School at Fort Benning [Benning School for Boys] in 2003, the 35th anniversary of our commissioning. Subsequent reunions were held in San Antonio, D.C., Monterey, Branson and the Black Hills. We’ll gather in Charleston in May, then return to Benning in 2018 for our 50th.
Thank you, Bob Morecook.

ATTENTION TO ORDERS! On 24 January 1999, Special Specialist Robert Morecook proceeded to stretch the bandwidth of communication between his home base and the outposts of there Vietnam Broadcast Veterans and their brethren/sistren at arms by means of a list serve on the internet. For seventeen years his efforts have led to the greater communication and understanding of service, commitment, history, and bovine fecal matter. Such an achievement is one that members of all branches of service recognize and honor.

I really tried to belong to AFVN but they had me fixing radios in airplanes. I worked at 20th TASS in Da Nang 68, 69. After I got out, I put nearly 35 years in radio from Great Falls Montana to WIXY in Cleveland, 13Q Pittsburgh, WIFE in Indy and then to Huntsville, AL. Now I just sit and listen to Sirius XM. Thanks for the AFVN site, I really enjoy all the mail.

Hi AFVN'ers and Friends
This group started 17 years ago today when JO1 Jack Leigh reached out to me trying to find JO2 Terry Oliver. Since then it has snowballed into a fine series of web pages now maintained by Jim White, numerous reunions, and a Facebook page. Is is not great to be in touch with friends from yesteryear? Reminder -- next reunion is in Oct 2016.
Best wishes;
