Subject: I may be going to Russia for a year - still serving
Hi Gang I applied for a Fulbright teaching position as a Fulbright Scholar in September and was notified today that I have passed the first milestone in having it happen. There are a number of steps remaining though. Last year I was similarly appointed to Moldova but was not able to obtain a sabbatical from my employer Houston Community College to go at the last minute [month, really] Being selected as a Fulbright Scholar is an achievement, an opportunity, and a responsibility. I hope I get to do it. Never when I was a kid did I think that a little Army brat from Fort Benjamin Harrison would be given a great responsibility twice. First, to serve with AFVN and be one of its many newscasters over the years. And then, perhaps again to go overseas late in life and share knowledge about psychology as a science with peers and students. Perhaps I will get to serve again.
Best wishes
Bob M

Hi Bobbie,
Thank you - I am hopeful it will work out. I am working on learning Russian and am now on disk 6 of about 18 from the Pimsleur disks for learning some basic expressions. It is slow going but I am hanging in there. Thank you for asking! Dose va donya [That's the pronunciation - not sure of the spelling!]
