I had a glass of mirth one time up in Boone, North Carolina. One sip of it and I thought my throat was on fire.

You know....I think the same thoughts now and then. We are not all democrats or republicans....we all have different backgrounds, education, likes and dis-likes...from different parts of the country...but when it comes down to it..we are all still brothers of the fire!
I think about Bob N. and Preston and wonder how in the world could they live in Santa-land. I lived in Washington for 8 years and ached to get back home and hear a southern accent again...how could Jim live in Japan all this time without grits and hushpuppys.
How could there be such a talented writer as Forrest who has never published a book? Bob M. is so involved with the community in Texas...how does he have time to ride herd on us? And finally, why do I put up with a bunch of sailors and Marines?

Just noting that my daily routine includes anticipating Dick's daily dose of interesting news bits. I appreciate the constant reaching out to the community this represents. I appreciate all the hours, thought and work Jim has put into revising the website. There but for the Grace of Jim, go I. I appreciate the difficult job that Bob takes on to monitor the playground and make sure no one goes around running with scissors. I appreciate the thoughts and the nonsense, the pictures and war stories, the camaraderie the rest of you bring to the site. It's good to be a Vietnam Vet.

It could have been one of the following....
1-down stream from a cow pasture.
2-down stream from a mountain cabin.
3-up-stream from a still!!!
I love Boone...

Hi Gang
Just back from 8 days of Operation Lone Star, our annual public health mission in South Texas. I was a PAO at one site. TXSG is not always fun but when it IS fun it's GREAT. And useful to the community too.
(Just like getting this group going in 1999 was useful too)
(Thank you DICKIE for the kind words of praise)
How happy am I to be in a helpful role again -- when it's all at it's best?
(see pic) best wishes
Bob M
