Sorry you had to go through that, Harry. It was a terrible time for many of us, and not nearly that bad for most of us.
I know I’ve posted this before, but this is boat 63, the one I was on the second night of Tet. She burned and turned turtle in less than half an hour. I got picked up miles downstream by another unit’s boat.

Hi All
Today is a day to remember and honor the fellows who lost their lives or who were captured at Det 5 Hue on 5 Feb 68. That's fifty years ago -- today Monday 5 Feb 2018.
Best wishes

Harry, I can only imagine . . . I can never feel what you went through. Thank you for your hope and enduring . . . I'm having a tough time with the words that express what I feel about what you went though . . . the fortitude that helped you survive. We only live so long on this earth and with you a great deal of that was taken from you. Your feelings live within us all.. God bless you sir.

Speaking for all the men of Det 5, Quang Tri, we salute our brothers of Det 5 HUE for their service and gallant action during the battle of Hue during Tet of '68. There is an excellent recount by Rick Frederickson of the battle and the loss of Det. 5 in the Feb 2018 issue of Vietnam Magazine. I was honored to serve as OIC of Det 5 following its relocation to Quang Tri.
