How come everyone skips me, I don;t even remember Cramer Haas but I did do the Dawnbuster following Adrian until December. You guys have never inserted me into the two tours of doing the Dawnbuster, I do not understand that.  I did the Dawnbuster in the AM and flew the Blue Eagles at night with the TV Broadcast.  I have sent newspaper stories to you guys showing me as the guy and I am in the Air Force film shot there.  I am bringing the original films from the AF Archives, the one with sound was lent to Pat McCusker but he never returned it I do have the short one with sound.  Let's get this record straight.

I was NCOIC of television production AFVN from Jan 66 to Dec 66.  Highlights were flying the blue eagle TV planes, did "Good Morning Vietnam" following Adrian Cronauer.  I also ran the camera for the first production and directed and switched the first programs from the ground.  While in Nam I did many interviews including, John Wayne, Danny Kaye, Ann  Margaret, and Wayne Newton.

I returned to Vietnam AFVN from Feb 71 to Feb 72: During this period I  was awarded the Bronze Star, Army, Air Force and Joint Services Commendation Medals for performance of duties as NCOIC.  Also again did "Good Morning Vietnam" directed and edited the "Bob Hope Show" etc.

I swear I never heard of Cramer Haas, but then at 77 I do have some lapse of memory, but I have looked at orders, rosters, news articles and see not glimpse of Cramer.  Sorry I was skipped and there has been no way to change the web stuff,  I have tried to no avail.

NB:  Jean, There was a point in time when the AFVN website was up on Geocities but Bob Morecook was unable to make any changes to it.  That could have been when you "tried to no avail. "  You are currently listed as one of the GMV announcers on the list included with the Good Morning Vietnam conversation.   Cramer Haas is listed immediately after your name but I don't know if there was an overlap in your tours or not.  Jim White, Webmaster.

Dawnbuster Show

Gooood Mooooorrrnnning Vietnam!

For Vietnam, AFVN developed a program along the lines of "G.I. Jive" from World War II.  A number of local disc jockeys helped make hour-long music programs for broadcast.  Perhaps the best known program became the morning "Dawnbuster" program, (the brainchild of Chief Petty Officer Bryant Arbuckle in 1962) thanks to the popularity of the sign-on slogan "Gooooood Morning, Vietnam" (which was initiated by Adrian Cronauer and later became the basis for the film Good Morning Vietnam starring Robin Williams).  Among the notable people who were AFVN disc jockeys were Adrian Cronauer and Pat Sajak.  Beginning in 1971 AFVN began to close some stations in Vietnam.  The last station to close was in Saigon in 1973.
